Manufacturing
Our frames are made of kiln-dried maple or birch hardwood. All members, including corner blocks, are fixed with glue, dowels and screws.
We use spiral springs of varying heights and gauges over a jute webbing. This ensures improved comfort and greater durability.
All products used in the manufacture or re-upholstery of an item are of the highest quality on the market, e.g. 100% cotton padding, foam rubber with at least a 2 lb compression test, 10 oz burlap, 1" sisal and densified Kodel polyester fibre.
We offer two kinds of seat cushions:
- Standard foam & Kodel seat in which we use a 2 lb Neocor fire-retardant foam wrapped in 1" densified Kodel; 5 different densities of firmness are available.
- Foam and feather seat in which we use 50% down and 50% duck feathers wrapped in down-proof ticking imported from the Czech Republic. These seat cushions are available in 3 different densities.
The back cushions are available in either 100% dacron or feather down blend 50/50. A customer can alter any style we offer to suit his or her own needs.
Examples : Overall length, width, depth or height. Size of the arms, any base style using skirts or choose from over 75 different styles of legs, wood or metal, in any finish.
The matching of fabric is done by hand in order to reproduce faithfully the pattern or the chosen drawing. The sewing is equally adapted to the finishing and the taste of the customer. Different seams for finishing are available, be it french seam, simple stitch, double stitch or with piping.
The customer can modify any style that we offer according to their preferences or needs. We accept fabric brought by the customer or we can supply from any major distributor in North America.
In conclusion, Lorenz employs the best skilled craftsman, with the intention to ensure you are getting superior quality in custom upholstery. Delivery is 6 to 12 weeks, depending on availability of fabrics and style changes. Packing and delivery are extra.
